MARIA WHEATLEY: INVADER OF HISTORY
NEW SERIES - POWER WOMEN LOST TO TIME.

Join Maria Wheatley on an extraordinary journey through five millennia of hidden history, where
the forgotten voices of powerful women rise once more from the shadows of time. Moving
beyond conventional narratives, Maria seeks those remarkable women whose achievements
altered the course of history, yet whose names were erased, obscured, or deliberately written out
of the historical record.
Throughout the medieval world, women recorded visions, authored intellectual works, and
shaped spiritual and cultural movements. Yet countless manuscripts bear witness to a quieter
form of suppression. A line was drawn through a woman's name and replaced with the
dismissive word femina - written by a woman - while her ideas, discoveries, and wisdom were
appropriated and absorbed into a male-dominated narrative.

Maria begins with her own remarkable discoveries: a long-headed High Queen of Stonehenge
and female shaman whose presence challenges long-held assumptions about Britain's sacred
past.
Following these elusive traces through the archaeological and historical record, she gives
voice to unsettling truths that have remained buried for centuries.
Her search uncovers a Bronze Age priestesshood who inscribed enigmatic rune-like symbols
among healing stones, guardians of traditions long forgotten.
Moving into the Dark Ages, she discovers a princess contemporary with King Arthur, a woman of such stature that she raised a greater army than the legendary king himself to defend her honour.
Yet history neglected even to preserve her name, leaving this formidable heroine abandoned to silence.
Setting aside entrenched academic interpretations, Maria reveals the story of a Viking shield-
maiden whose grave was long assumed to belong to a warrior king.
She enters the shadowed world of Norse magic through the Galdrabók, exploring the mysteries, symbols, and spellcraft preserved within one of Iceland's most enigmatic magical texts.
Journeying forward into the thirteenth to fifteenth centuries, she recovers the strange and
haunting voices of the anchorites, women voluntarily enclosed within tiny cells beside churches,
never again to walk freely in the world. Though physically confined, their visions, prophecies, and
spiritual authority continued to resonate far beyond stone walls, echoing across centuries.
Returning to the ninth century, Maria uncovers the extraordinary account of an Anglo-Saxon
woman before whom even the mighty Vikings surrendered. Not unto a king, nor a warlord, but to
her. Her story survives as a powerful reminder that authority in the ancient world could wear a
woman's face.
Finally, tracing a path into the fifteenth through eighteenth centuries, Maria discovers the story of
the first woman executed for witchcraft, a woman who lived only a few miles from where Maria
herself now walks. Bound across time by shared emotions and human experience, she follows
the trail into the world of the Cunning Folk: healers, seers, and wisdom-keepers who served their
communities, yet were too often feared, misunderstood, and falsely accused.
This is not merely a history of women. It is a quest to recover a lost lineage of feminine power.
Through archaeology, forgotten manuscripts, folklore, and ancient landscapes, Maria uncovers a
hidden inheritance: the enduring influence of women who shaped kingdoms, guarded sacred
knowledge, commanded armies, inspired visions, and changed the course of history, even when
history itself refused to remember their names.

Episode 1: Neolithic Shamans
Neolithic Shamans: The Long-Headed Visionaries of Stonehenge
Staring back nearly six thousand years into the mists of prehistory, Maria Wheatley
uncovers the forgotten world of the Neolithic shamans whose otherworldly
appearance marks the dawn of monumental civilisation. With their elongated skulls,
striking features, and mysterious presence, these fey-like visionaries emerge from
the shadows of time as possible architects of Britain's first sacred landscapes.
Were they the original geomancers, mystics who sensed invisible currents beneath
the earth and mapped the pathways later known as ley lines? Did they walk the
landscape seeking places where earth and sky converged in sacred union?
Following clues hidden within ancient monuments, burials, and alignments, Maria
explores the possibility that these enigmatic figures possessed a profound
understanding of the living energies of the land, laying the foundations for
Stonehenge and Britain's vast network of sacred sites.
